Plantago bellardia ssp deflexa Hairy Plantain
This sub species is differentiated from the ordinary Plantgo bellardii ssp bellardii in that the flower stems are shorter than the leaves. This is a very small plant and can be so densly hairy that the flowers appear to be a small ball of fluff in the middle of the rosette of leaves. Plantago bellardii ssp deflexa seems to be most common in the east Mediterranean.
