Orthilia secunda Serrated Wintergeen R DD N
Seeking a flower on this plant proved too difficult this year. I went to this site at the foot of Cairngorm on to successive occasions but progress towards flowering seemed to be slower than I had expected. Returning later in July it was nearly over - it must have a much shorter flowering period than I had thought.
This plant is reasonably common in Scotland north of a line between Edinburgh and Glasgow but is found only in a few places elsewhere in the British Isles.
