Eriophorum latifolium   Broad-leaved Cottongrass

Eriophorum latifolium whole Eriophorum latifolium close

The broad leaves of this plant are onlty slightly wider than those found in E. angustifolium (Common Cottongrass) The species name angustifolium means narrow-leaved and latifolium means broad-leaved. However the leaves of E. latifolium are V shaped in cross section while in Common Cottongrass the leaves are flat according to Stace Edition 3. This species is fairly common throughout Switzerland.
