Eriophorum latifolium   Broad-leaved Cottongrass C DD N

Eripohorum latifolium

This Cottongrass differs in only a few respects from E. angustifolium (Common Cottongrass). Angustifolium means narrow leaved and latifolium means broad leaved but the difference is more that in this plant the slightly wider leaves are flat where in E. angustifolium they are both narrower and V shaped.

E. latifolium is found throughout central and southern England and Wales in scattered communities but in Scotland and northern England it is common. In Ireland is is found scattered around the northern and central part of the island.
