Veronica alpina Alpine Speedwell
This plant, which I have never photographed in Britain, but saw in the Cairngorm mountains of Scotland many years ago, is quite common in the higher mountains of Europe. It is a northern hemisphere, circumpolar plant but the stronghold is Norway and Iceland with sites dotted in North America, Greenland and even parts of Asia. According to some texts it is found on mountains up to 6,500 feet but this one was at a height 8,000 feet or more.
