Valantia hispida Bristly Crosswort Endemic
Valantia hispida is quite common in the Mediterranean particularly in the east and I have seen it in Crete, and in both Andalucia and Almeria in Spain. It is quite an inconspicuous plant, so perhaps surprising that it has Valantia, Hairy Valantia and Bristly Crosswort as common names. It is named after a French Botanist Sébastien Vaillant who studied his plants in the early 18th century.
It can be seen in Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Isreael and the near east plus the Canaries as well as many Mediterranean islands like Gozo and Crete.
