Valerianella locusta    Common Cornsalad C DD N

Valerianella locusta

The expert botanists who showed us round Guernsey could see differences between the habits of V. locusta which they occasionally see and V. carinata (Keel-fruited Cornsalad) which they usually see but since we rarely see anything but V. locusta I wasn't sure I could add anything to their identification.

Common throughout England, Valerianella locusta clings more to the coast in wales and southern Scotland. It is found on the outer Hebrides and around the Inverness area but is rare near and inland from the north coast of Scotland . In Ireland it tends to be eastern and coastal.
