Trifolium resupinatum   Persian Clover

Trifolium resupinatum whole Trifolium resupinatum close

This is a striking but small headed clover with fruits which reminded me of Strawberry Clover (Trifolium fragiferum). It is quite common in European countries like France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece And occurs further east in Israel and Punjab. It is an invasive weed in eastern Australia, New Zealand and parts of north America. It is used as a fodder crop in Iran, Afghanistan and elsewhere which accounts for its widespread occurrence.
