Tetratheca virgata Endemic

Tetratheca virgata whole Tetratheca virgata close

Tetratheca species tend to hang their delicate heads downwards so that you have to get really close to the ground and point your camera up to see the stamens and stigmas. I can no longer do this. My arthritic legs will not allow it. This makes identification of the species which are so often a purplish colour, very difficult. In this case though, we were shown the flora of this wonderful wood by a botanist who knew all the names, so no guesswork was needed.

Tetratheca virgata records extend from just north of Perth south and inland, down to Albany.
