Thelymitra antennifera Vanilla Orchid Endemic
Thelymitra antennifera which is an Australian endemic also found in Tasmania, is also known as Lemon-scented Sun Orchid. Sun Orchids as the name suggests only open in warm weather so when cultivated species are exhibited they use lamps to coax them into flowering properly. A fairly common orchds species, it is found throughout south western Australia from Shark Bay to Israelite Bay and prefers wet habitats including the wet pockets in granite outcrops such as this one at Sandford Rocks.
