Symphytum creticum whole Symphytum creticum close

Still known as Procopiania cretica or Trachystemon creticus in some texts, this typical member of the Boraginaceae has long coarse hairs and is found quite commonly all over Crete quite often in limestone gorges. It does occur on other Greek Islands where a very similar, possibly identical species Symphytum insularis, is distinguished by some taxonomists.
