Taraxacum porphyranthum
In the sub alpine, almost alpine regions above the town of Teberda we were stopped in our tracks by drifts of unmelted snow and could not continue to the promised lake. The meadows were as usual full of low growing flowers including this one which at first we didn't recognise as a Dandelion. There are few teeth on the leaves and many are entire but the rosette looks like that of a Taraxacum species and the beautiful pink or in some cases purple flower heads are the same shape. The Speedwell nearby is Veronica gentianoides.
