Strepera fuliginosa   Black Currawong

Strepera fuliginosa Black Currawong

Sometimes known as the Black Jay, this Passerine bird is endemic to Tasmania. It is an omnivorous bird which will eat fruit, small vertebrates and will scavenge for carrion. This one flew down onto our hire car and gave us the evil eye because we had no food to share. Like many Australian birds it seemed not to be at all timid in the presence of humans.
