Sideritis hirsuta

Sideritis hirsuta whole Sideritis hirsuta close

Sideritis was the name given to plants with healing properties and it has been determined that some of the oils which can be extracted from Sideritis species have anti-bacterial properties. Sideritis hirsuta is a very variable plant with white, pale yellow or yellow flowers and a tendency to hybridise like many in the genus. Both places where we found this were typical habitats: dry stony ground.

Sideritis hirsuta is found in the western Mediterranean particularly and in the drier parts of southern Spain and France with a little in North Africa and Italy.
