Sibbaldianthe bifurca Fork-leaved Cinquefoil
Fairly recently this species was known as Potentiila bifurca which explains the attempt at creating an English name. Potentilla is the generic name for Cinquefoil species, so-called because many have five lobed leaves even though this one doesn't.
It has a huge geographical distribution over much of Russia, India, the Himalayas, from Pakistan to Bhutan, much of China, Eastern Turkey where this plant was found, and nearby countries, plus dotted occurrences in Scandinavia. It is quoted as growing at altitudes of 8800 feet 15700 feet but this one was thriving at a lower altitude.
