As its name suggests this is a plant of the hills and mountains and can be found on rocks even at at heights of nearly 11,000 feet. Sedum alpestre is a low growing species with yellow flowers sometimes having red veins in the petals. It is found in the Swiss Alps where this one was photographed, the Julian Alps and Dolomites, the Pyrenees and dotted about in some Greek and Corsican hills.
