There were hundreds of this eastern Mediterranean plant around a reservoir not far from Arapkoy but the most startling memory of that walk in the hot Cyprus sun was the shouting frogs. I never realised that amphibians could make so much noise. The interesting seed heads of Scabiosa prolifera are popular in dry flower arrangements
