Romulea columnae ssp ramiflora Sand Crocus
Sand Crocus is a UK rarity but various sub species of Romulea columnae were all over Gozo. The endemic ssp melitensis has narrow petals and ssp columnae is usually paler. However these sub species are difficult to split so perhaps someone will email me with a correction. This one was found on the rocky coast in several parts of the island and even if the flowers weren't present there were plenty of the thin, grass like leaves.
This species is also known simply as Romulea ramiflora.
