The habit of this plant is exactly the same as
the ssp alpina sub species but the flowers are always
yellow. While ssp alpina is found typically in limestone
rocks and needs basic soils ssp alpiifolia is usually
found on acid soils in hills and mountains up to 8,800 feet
in height.
