Pulsatilla albana Albanian Pasqueflower
Even in late May the snow lay quite thick in parts inside the rim of this extinct volcano. There were plenty of patches of unfrozen gravel though, and the plants of the area are quick to take advantage of the brief period of warmth. There are several sub species of this plant and this one is probably ssp armena which makes it the Armenian sub species of the Albanian Pasqueflower. According to GBIF distribution maps this species can be found in the various countries of the Caucasus, Turkey, Armenia and possibly Iran but not necessarily Albania.
