On a hill top outside Siana, we came across what looked like a huge area of shrubby thistles. Although the flowers looked familiar, the large mounds of purple flowering shrub were not. Ptilostemon chamaepeuce is an Eastern mediterranean plant found in Greece, Cyprus, Crete and also in Israel, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey.
