Plantago weldenii Welden's Plantain
This plant is still known as Plantago coronopus ssp weldenii in some texts and the first impression you get is that it must be closely related to Plantago coronopus (Buck's-horn Plantain). The leaves look very similar as do the flower spikes and it is an annual. However P. coronopus does not grow in Crete according to Felding and Turland in their excellent book on the Cretan flora: Flowers of Crete.
