Pinguicula grandiflora Large-flowered Butterwort
As well as being found at low levels in south western Ireland, this plant will grow in boggy parts of the mountains of Europe (Pyrenees, parts of the Alps and the Jura mountains) to heights of nearly 8,500 feet. Because of the large flowers P. grandiflora is sold both by nurseries and garden centres as a plant suitable for the damper darker places in the garden (it doesn't thrive in direct sunlight) and as a specimen for people who like to grown insectivorous plants.
