Philydrella pygmaea Butterfly Flowers Endemic
The height of this bulbaceous, perennial plant according to Florabase, varies from 2 cm to 30 cm which is some variation. These examples were all on the small side only a few centimetres tall and sparse enough to be missed if you weren't looking carefully. They were in a depression which looked as though it held water in winter - just the habitat you'd expect to find these plants.
Philydrella pygmaea is reasonably common from around Geraldton along the Swan Coastal Plain, occurring in much of the inland extreme south west corner of Western Australia and has even been recorded from around Esperance.
