Phelipanche nana ssp melitensis White Dwarf Broomrape Maltese Endemic
This Broomrape was at one time though to be one of the Orobanche genus as Orobanche nana as you might expect, but it is now thought to be best placed in Phelipanche. But after publications there were some taxonomists who didn't accept this change which just shows how uncertain the naming of plants can be. We found this on a coastal walk along with quite a few other Orobanche species. It was surrounded by host plants of Oxalis pres-caprae (Bermuda-buttercup) which is the "Sorrel" in the English name
Phelipanche nana ssp melitensis is an endemic species of the Maltese islands.
