Ophrys lutea ssp melena Yellow Ophrys
This orchid has exactly the same shape of labellum as Ophrys lutea but usually has a thin trim of yellow round the edge.
Taxonomy: There is a very long list of synonyms for this orchid which has been promoted to species rank in many of them. Delforge and others call this Ophrys melena (Renz) Paulus & Gack but World Checklist and Kew give as the accepted correct name: Ophrys lutea ssp melena Renz
