Ophrys insectifera Fly Orchid
The colour of the flies on this orchid were distinctly brownsish but the remarkable thing was the height: over 50 cm tall and with at least 12 flowers well spaced down the stem.
Taxonomy: The name Ophrys inectifera L., named in Linnaeus' original compilation in Species Plantarum, remains uncontroversial and all authorities quote this as the correct name.
