Lycium schweinfurthii
This shrub was about 2m tall and a tangle of thorny branches with very few flowers and at this time of year no fruit. The fruit are usually black but in Cyprus are said to be as being orange. It is found in Sicily, Crete and Cyprus as well as western Asian countries like Israel.
L. schweinfurthii is named after Dr Georg August Schweinfurth, a Latvian botanist who travelled extensively in Africa exploring rivers and various human settlements but also making big advances in the knowledge of the flora.
