This plant is cultivated in different parts
of the world for its edible fruits. As the name suggests L.
caerulea produces
dull blue fruits but at this stage of the season
none had been found here in the Swiss Alps. It is
a circumpolar plant and is found in Russia
and Asia with each area having different sub species
or varieties. The European plant is ssp caerulea
