Lolium perenne   Perennial Rye-grass CCC D N

Lolium perenne

This grass is used as both a crop and in lawns and sports pitches so the prospects for cultivated varieties to escape are enormous. It is also one of the commonest of the native wayside grasses and quite easy to identify.

Lolium perenne is abundant throughout the British Isles even as far as the outer Hebridean islands.
