Fritillaria acmopetala Pointed Petal Fritillary
This is a favourite of the Alpine gardeners and has won prizes at RHS shows. It is quite a tall species growing to as much as 40 cm in height sometimes. There are two sub species: ssp acmopetala and ssp wendelboi. This one looks more like Fritillaria acmopetala ssp wendelboi with the slightly angular shoulders to the bell shaped flower.
It is found in eastern Mediterranean countries such as Cyprus, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine.
