Euzomodendron bourgaeanum No English name Endemic
This is a spiny, bushy crucifer which is endemic to the almost desert climate prevalent near Almería in Southern Spain. We looked for this and several other rarities in a deep, dry gulch near Tabernas. It looks quite arid and uninviting but is the habitat for quite a few of Spain's rarest plants.
This part of Spain is famous for being used as the backdrop to Spaghetti Westerns and as we passed some settlements there were film sets with western shanty towns and wigwams outside.
