Echium parviflorum   Small-flowered Bugloss

Echium parviflorum whole Echium parviflorum

There was a fair amount of this plant the flowers of which at first reminded me of Mertensia maritima (Oyster Plant) but with its typical bristly leaves an Anchusa or Echium was obviously a more likely genus. This plant, like many in the genus, can be found on waste ground and also like this one, at the coast. The other thing we found at this site was a small bay absolutely full of jelly fish which are apparently becoming a pest at some resorts on the Mediterranean coast.
