Echium pininana Giant Viper's-bugloss C D I
Growing in rough ground but quite close to habitation, this plant could have been planted but also it could have escaped from nearby gardens where it was thriving. One of the many special Echium species from the Canary Islands, this is known to escape in some southern English counties, the Scillies and the Channel islands.
It has been found in north Wales and on the Isle of Man and in south eastern Ireland but not in Scotland.
