Dittrichia viscosa False Yellowhead
Native to many countries around the Mediterranean basin, this plant also occasionally occurs as a neophyte in UK, mostly in the south of England. It has a few common English names such as Woody Fleabane, Yellow Fleabane and Sticky Fleabane as well as False Yellowhead. Peak flowering is in Autumn where it can provide a plentiful supply of nectar at a time when they is a scarcity of flowering plants in the southern Mediterranean.
The plants we saw during a very dry Autumn in Greece were covered in bees, wasps, beetles and butterflies.
