Citrus sinensis   Orange

Citrus sinensis Citrus sinensis fruit

The difficulty is not in finding an Orange tree, it's deciding whether the one you are photographing has escaped or not. In this case the little grove of Orange trees in Crete was in a fairly inaccessible spot so if it was ever planted then it was certainly a long time ago. What attracts you to this kind of plant is not necessarily the scent but the hum of the insects which can be heard quite a way off.

The fruit, photographed for completion and because they tasted so good, was in an Orchard near the house we stayed at on our Spanish botanical holiday in 2007.
