From a distance this plant looks like any other white umbellifer you've ever seen but close to you can see the distinctive leaves which give it its name. There was plenty to be found in this special but reducing Culm grassland of north Cornwall.

The largest concentrations of C. verticillatum have an extreme western distribution being found in Cornwall, south west Wales and south western Scotland and south west Ireland.
