Carum carvi Caraway
Carum carvi is a native of Europe, northern Africa and the near east. The aromatic seed of Caraway is used with bread and has been used in food preparation in England since the 15th century. It grows in lowland areas and is cultivated in a few areas of lowland southern Britain but here it was common in the hills too.
Carum carvi can be found in meadows at heights of up to 7,000 feet.
