Carex strigosa   Thin-spiked Wood-sedge C DD N

carex strigosa

We found this plant in quite deep shade towards the end of the day so the light levels were very poor for photography. C strigosa has some similarities with C. sylvatica (Wood Sedge) but, to me anyway, not many. It is a bigger plant with wider leaves and long thin fruiting spikes. It is a plant found in southern and central England with a few outposts in northern England and west Wales but none at all in Scotland.
