Carex spicata Spiked Sedge C DD N
This sedge grows in pronounced tufts with the spikes curving outwards and upwards up to 80 cm. The fruit spikes at first remind you of Carex otrubae (False Fox Sedge) but at maturity the individual utricles are very spiky with pronounced beaks as the name suggests.
C. spicata is common throughout England and central Wales but is less common in Scotland and Ireland.
