Carex punctata Dotted Sedge RR DD N
Being late in the season, this rare sedge had only one stem with fruit on it but the glossy green utricles under close and careful examination could be seen to have a few very faint purplish dots which are characteristic.
Nearly all the sites for this plant are coastal. On the mainland it occurs only only a few coastal stretches in the south of England, Wales, southern Scotland and southern Ireland. It is also found in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
