Carex paniculata Greater Tussock-sedge C DD N
This is one of the UK's largest sedges with tussocks over one metre high. They allow long stalked sedge flowers to begin to arise at an angle of about 45 degrees to the vertical and can be seen as early as March or even late February.
Carex paniculata is common throughout the British Isles and Ireland but uncommon in the far north of Scotland.
