Blancoa canescens   Winter Bell or Red Bugle Endemic

Blancoa canescens Blancoa canescens close

This endemic herb is found along the coastal strip of SW Australia and is adapted to be pollinated by birds. The bells vary from brick red to pale pink and are covered in short silky hairs when young. Its main flowering season is from July to August hence the name Winter Bell. The small grass like plant on the right of the photo is probably a Johnsonia.
