Blackstonia perfoliata Yellow-wort C DD N
This is a common enough plant in calcareous or neutral grassland but like many in the Gentianaceae family it is reluctant to open fully except in full summer sunshine. It also tend to open only in the morning.
It has a southern distribution in the British isles being very common in southern England but becoming scarcer in the north of England and very scarce in Scotland. In Wales it is most often found near the coast and in Ireland in the Republic.
