This plant, clearly a garden escape, was seen in several locations in the wild. It was usually thriving in darker damp places and at this time of year full of flowers. In this part of northern Italy there is snow in winter but perhaps the frosts aren't deep enough to affect the tubers of this obviously hardy begonia.
