Aphanes australis   Slender Parsley-piert C DD N elashr

Aphanes australis Aphanes australis close

The two Aphanes species common to the UK (australis and arvensis) are so similar that you need a hand lens and/or a local expert to confirm your identification. In this case we had both and the dominant species in these parts is Aphanes australis.

Both Aphanes arvensis(Parsle-piert) and Aphanes australis(Slender Parsley-piert) are found throughout the British Isles and, unfortunately for the field botanists, often at the same location.
