Botanists look down while Birders look up - that's he usual rule anyway. A bird made an odd noise though so I looked up to see what it was and noticed this odd globular bunch of leaves. It then occurred to me it could be one of the various mistletoes which grow in Western Australia so I took photos. Later looking at what I'd taken I found that it even had flowers on which helped to identify it as Amyema fitzgeraldii a hemiparasitic plant growing only on the stems of Acacia species just as this one is.

Amyema fitzgeraldii grows in this area and around Geraldton but otherwise is dotted over Western Australia in the inland desert regions.
