Agonis flexuosa Peppermint Endemic
Common along the coastal plain from Perth to Albany, this medium sized tree has leaves which when crushed smell vaguely of peppermint. Its drooping or weeping habit explains why its other common name is Willow Myrtle. It is tolerant of habitats with high pH so will grow in basic soils but is will actually grow almost anywhere and is now common in eastern Australia. Varieties like "After Dark" with dark red leaves are sold in nurseries and garden centres.
