Achillea biserrata Biserrate Milfoil
Although it has a similar colour but slightly larger florets compared with our British native Achillea millefolium (Yarrow), the big immediately obvious difference is the leaves. This particular plant was growing in deep shade.
Achillea biserrata is found in Georgia, the Russian Caucasus, the eastern Black Sea coast and occasionally in Turkey but as a native, nowhere else in Europe. Like many of the Achillea genus, the plant contains anti oxidative compounds which can be extracted with an alcohol infusion. Herbal remedies involving Achillea biserrata have been used historically.
