The flowers of this poisonous plant are usually yellow but can be white. It will grow both in lowland areas and in the hills in open spaces and at the edges of woodland. It is used in herbal medicine as an emetic and for applying to boils or pimples. Vincetoxicum hirundinaria grows throughout the Mediterranean region as well as in the French Pyrenees.
